Live Edge Table Care & Maintenance
Your custom live edge table is crafted from exceptional hardwood and designed to be enjoyed for generations. With a few simple care habits and the right products, you can preserve its natural beauty and protect its finish for years to come.
Most of my indoor wood tables are finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, a premium hardwax oil that enhances the natural character of the wood while providing protection for everyday use.
Handcrafted live edge dining table designed to become the centerpiece of your home — built with care, meant to last for generations.
The following recommendations are intended primarily for tables finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C.
Other finishes and materials may require different care.
Everyday Table Care
Keeping your table looking beautiful is simple.
Clean gently. Use a soft microfiber cloth and, when needed, water and/or a cleaner approved for your table's finish.
Wipe up spills promptly. Avoid allowing water, alcohol, or other liquids to remain on the wood.
Protect against heat and scratches. Use trivets beneath hot cookware and avoid dragging rough or sharp objects across the surface.
Avoid excessive sunlight and moisture. Maintain a reasonably stable indoor environment and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and HVAC vents.
Natural wood may change slightly in color and character over time. These changes are part of what makes a handcrafted hardwood table unique.

1. Rubio Monocoat Surface Care Spray Kit
Best for everyday cleaning
My first recommendation for routine maintenance. This ready-to-use cleaner removes everyday dirt and marks while preserving the natural matte appearance of your table.
It's convenient, easy to use, and ideal for regular cleaning.
2. Rubio Monocoat Soap
Best for economical cleaning refills
A concentrated cleaner that can be diluted according to the manufacturer's instructions.
An excellent choice for refilling your cleaning spray bottle and maintaining your table over the years.
3. Rubio Monocoat Renew
Best for refreshing the finish
Over time, areas of your table may begin to look or feel dry or show signs of wear.
Rubio Monocoat Renew is designed to refresh surfaces finished with Oil Plus 2C while maintaining their original matte appearance.
It's particularly useful for refreshing worn areas without changing the overall sheen.
Use only when necessary and follow the manufacturer's application and safety instructions.
4. Rubio Monocoat Tannin Remover
Best for certain dark stains
This specialty product is designed to help remove black or dark tannin stains caused by moisture or reactions with metal.
It can be useful for treating certain stains that ordinary cleaning products cannot remove.
Not all dark marks are tannin stains. If you're unsure what's caused a stain, contact me before attempting treatment.
5. Rubio Monocoat Universal Maintenance Oil
Best for adding a soft, luxurious sheen
One of my personal favorites.
Rubio Monocoat Universal Maintenance Oil enhances the natural beauty of wood while increasing the sheen from matte to a subtle, velvet-like finish.
It's an excellent option for clients who prefer a slightly richer, more refined appearance without a high-gloss look.
Unlike Renew, which can be used for localized maintenance, Universal Maintenance Oil should be applied evenly across the entire surface to maintain a consistent sheen.
Once applied, follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance instructions for surfaces treated with Universal Maintenance Oil.
When Does Your Table Need Maintenance?
Your table doesn't need to be routinely refinished simply because a certain amount of time has passed.
If the finish begins to look unusually dry, feels rough, or shows signs of wear, it may be time for maintenance.
For deeper scratches, damaged areas, or situations requiring the original finish to be reapplied, I recommend contacting me before attempting a repair.
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions when using cleaning or finishing products. Oil-based finishing products also require proper handling and disposal of application cloths due to the risk of spontaneous combustion.
